Is it Worth Getting Shot?

When we were still young our parents brought us to our pediatricians to have shots of vaccines to prevent certain disease from entering our body. Since babies have weaker immunity against sickness. Now that we’re grown-ups we don’t need to worry about those diseases since we already had shots before to prevent them. Wrong! You may believe nowadays that vaccines are only for babies or kids but the truth about is that vaccine are also essentials even in our adulthood. The reason is that: nobody is immune all disease and some vaccinations need continued follow-up to ensure their efficiency. In fact, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we become more susceptible to serious diseases caused by common infections as we grow older. Also, the older we get, the greater the chances that our immunity will be worned-off. Doctors say that an injection only hurts as much as a pinprick, and it’s true.

Tag: Info, Medical conditions, Medicine, NewsAvatar @ 9:53 am

The approach and type of treatment has attracted the attention of top cancer researchers much so that they have started experimental tests on the Kanzius device. Though an actual cancer treatment machine that would be useable and safe for human use is still a few years away, the novel approach he took is making his invention the talk of the cancer research world. When asked what his expectations would be of his invention (which by the way he funded with his own money) he simply says he doesn’t need to earn money from it all, and that a cure for cancer that would make tomorrow a better one for all the cancer sufferer’s out there would be enough reward for him. He also says he hopes to see the first patient before hkanzius2.jpge succumbs to his Leukemia, roll out of the operating room with the cancer cells gone and done for.
He has his own website at the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation which promotes cancer and features his amazing invention.

Home-Grown Cancer Treatment – Kanzius Radio Wave Therapy (Part 1)

Tag: Info, Medical conditions, Medicine, NewsAvatar @ 9:52 am

kanzius1.jpgThe world was stunned when an ordinary cancer patient suffering from a form of Leukemia announced that he may have produced a device that could spell a revolutionary approach to cancer treatment. John Kanzius used to be a radio operator and technician turned inventor when he got fed up with chemotherapy and the other types of treatments that are currently available for treating the many forms of cancer. He came up with the idea of using high-power radio waves to kill off cancer cells deep within the human body that promises to be non-invasive. The treatment would have a patient administered with protein attaching compounds that would attach themselves to the cancer cells and only the cancer cells that is loaded with metallic Nano-materials. Radio waves passes through the human body without harming the living tissue and this happens everyday with cosmic radiation on the form of radio waves penetrating and passing thought the human body without any harm done.

Acne Drug Linked to Depression

Tag: Health warning, Info, Medicine, NewsAvatar @ 9:35 am

acne.jpgAccutane, a common acne treatment has been found to double the risk of depression in people who use the product according to studies. Isotretinoin, the active ingredient of the acne treatment has been found to amplify depression that has prompted doctors to include proper psychological assesment as part of pre-prescription routines. Psychological exams would be able to tell if depression is present allowing the prescription of alternative treatments. Much is the concern that the cosmetics industry is now under scrutiny due to many substances that are commonly found in them that have long been banned from other developed countries due to harmful side effects. It is estimated that the average woman in their daily routine for beauty, can apply as much as 200 different compounds on their faces and body some of which have been determined to cause some health problems as they are absorbed into the blood stream passing thought the skin. Anything that has active ingredients, even natural products should be treated as drugs due to their ability to pass through skin and cause health problems in the future.

Broken Heart Syndrome - For Real

brokenheart.jpgThe symptoms are serious and can me interpreted as a heart attack but researchers have found that there are individuals that do exhibit the adverse reaction to bad news such as a loved one passing away. It first caught the attention of Japanese doctors in 1991 and was initially called takutsubo cardiomyopathy, modern terminology has it named several versions such as; stress cardiomyopathy, stress-induced cardiomyopathy or apical ballooning syndrome and they have since gained little knowledge on how psychological trauma can trigger such an adverse effect in humans. Researchers are identifying adrenaline as the main culprit but more research is needed to prove it as such. They have found that too much of the hormone can damage the hearts of certain individuals as they get to hear of bad news resulting in symptoms similar to heart attacks.
Telling the real heart attach from the syndrome can be difficult for they do exhibit the same symptoms but there are rarely any side effects form those who suffer Broken heart syndrome, sufferers tend to recover fast and get back with their normal lives but caution is advised so as not to under mind the possibility of a true failing heart. In a true heart attack, there is arterial blockage but in the syndrome, the blood vessels and arteries are fine but trauma may result in sluggish blood flow. Experts form the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research are continuing research in to the possible reason for the syndrome as they try to better understand why psychological trauma can produce such profound effects on the physical body.

Elderly people who use Anti-Psychotics for Dementia at Risk

Tag: Health warning, Info, NewsAvatar @ 9:30 am

seniors.jpgAccording to experts, elderly people who are getting treatment/medication to overcome dementia associated with their relative age can result in death or hospitalization short after. The side effects of older and newer drugs were analyzed when researchers tried to find an explanation for the rash of deaths that were plaguing elderly communities in health care facilities/nursing homes finding that those who did receive the antipsychotic drugs are three times more likely to get hospitalized or even die due to long term side-effects of the drugs in question.

“Newer antipsychotic drugs (olanzapine, quetiapine fumarate and risperidone) have been on the market for more than a decade and are commonly used to treat the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia,” the authors write as background information in the article.

The study recruited people in nursing homes as test subjects and their results did confirm that the adverse effects of individuals who received antipsychotics did have a higher risk of getting into health problems as a result of the drugs. Most elderly people who are confined to nursing homes are getting treated with antipsychotics to manage their often fragile health but compared to those who live outside of them they are more likely to die or get into serious health problems. The researchers are advising that these drugs be prescribed with caution till they get to the bottom of the problems as many follow-up testing and research is in order to establish better data.

Caffeinol helps in surgery

Tag: NewsTimmy @ 1:06 am

coffee.jpg

I’ve always read about the health benefits of caffeine and alcohol (like beer and red wine) and I’ve known that it’s the excesses of said substances that can actually be harmful to those who over indulge.

Anyway, here’s another article on how the combination of alcohol and caffeine can lower body temperature during operations. This in turn can limit damage and enhanced recovery.

According to new research by a group led by Dr. Sheryl Martin-Schild, a neurovascular fellow at the University of Texas Health Science Center, “giving stroke patients a caffeine-alcohol mixture in concert with a clot-busting drug was safe and led to better recovery.”

Hopefully, after more successful studies, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration will also approve the use of caffeinol for common consumption.

Taking a peek at celebrity health records

Woah! Talk about the ultimate stalking.

George Clooney and some unnamed celebrities have had their medical records illegally tapped from the U.S. health care system by certain employees in the health care industry in Auckland, New Zealand. The breaches were reported to be detected when routine electronic audits were done.

I cant actually blame the poor guys. I mean the information is already there, right? But yes, I am still condoning their act. Im not a celebrity and I wouldnt want anyone snooping for my health records.

But wait… George Clooney? Ooohnow I really am curious

I read this article in Forbes about how obesity has affected the United States economy due to immense medical costs. According to the article, about 9% of the national medical bill comes from obesity-related diseases. The article also listed other ways in which obese people affect the nations economy. It also reported that employers have started to pay employees to lose weight The facts may be true but the problem is a more complex one which involves a complete overhaul of a peoples psyche that has been manipulated through the years.

Bush vetoes children’s health bill twice

Tag: NewsTimmy @ 8:27 am

cry-baby.jpg

See the baby cry? The poor kid has sort of a reason to be sad. U.S. President George W. Bush has recently vetoed a bill expanding a popular children’s health care program- and this occurring for the second time (the first one in October)! It definitely angered Democrats who already have their hands full with the vehement fighting with the administration over the budget and spending.

The bill was pushed mostly by Democrats but was also supported by many Republicans. Rightfully so because it was aimed at providing health insurance to more-or-less 10 million children who come from low- and moderate-income families. This endeavor would have been funded by increased taxes on cigarettes and other tobacco products. Makes sense, right?

His reason?

Because the Congress has chosen to send me an essentially identical bill that has the same problems as the flawed bill I previously vetoed, I must veto this legislation too
