Dengue Cure
The onslaught of dengue fever has swept the world by surprise without much we can do in terms of protection and curing the disease. The virus used to be untreatable but a new vaccine from the University of Melbourne have come up with a new vaccine that may be the answer to the problem caused by dengue, two strains of which are deadly and have claimed many lives through the years. The new vaccine would address all four strains that is a welcome addition to our arsenal of anti-viral drugs that can help promote immunity from the disease.
Dengue mosquito’s have built-in immunity against the virus which they react to swiftly enough so as not to kill themselves. Mosquitoes are not the cause of the virus but the mechanism by which it spreads. Controlling the mosquito population also helps prevent breakout of the disease especially near human settlements. The virus has spread throughout the world where the weather is warm enough to support mosquitoes. Once infected, it can transmit the virus to anyone it bites, that victim in turn spreads it to non-infected mosquitoes continuing the cycle.
